Artist Gene Witkowski stated: “The photo was taken in 1972 in Northern Thailand at an Akha hill tribe village to the east of a town called Mai Chan. I traveled to Thailand twice for six months in 1972 and 1984 and photographed the people there. Young boy in his everyday clothes.”
