Rose Popper

Spiraling Movement has a Zen-like simplicity. Rose Popper capitalized on the subtle veins of color in limestone, a sedimentary rock composed mainly of skeletal fragments of marine organisms. Her poetic working of the surface suggests the erosion of a site uncovering fossilized remains of primordial ferns or aquatic creatures. Spiraling Movement is one of the stone sculptures that was featured in her recent solo exhibition in Sisti Gallery North—Ron LaRocque’s new gallery in Pendleton that aspires to continue the legacy of his grandfather, Tony Sisti.
