Joshua Marks is both a consummate craftsman and cunning conceptual artist known for satiric sculpture that comments on American middle-class ennui, conformism, consumerism, and intellectual vacuity. Keeping up with the Joneses perfectly illustrates his aesthetic and philosophic approach. It was one of many outstanding works exhibited at the Big Orbit Gallery in 2000 in which he manipulates miniature elements to create narrative-provoking vignettes. Impeccable craftsmanship and sly humor characterize his carefully constructed sculptures.
