Patriotism
Veterans Day is a federal holiday observed on November 11th to give all Americans a special opportunity to pay tribute to those men and women who throughout our history have served in the United States Armed Forces. It coincides with Armistice Day, when World War I ended on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the year. The willingness of people to serve has given us the security we enjoy today. We show our patriotism with red, white and blue decorations and display the American flag. Marion Faller captures these displays in Buffalo showcasing patriotism and the respect and honor we give to our veterans.
Adult label
Flags positioned next to the graves of veterans represent the honor and love the Buffalo community shares for those who served our country and those who sacrificed their lives. A special annual ceremony takes place in Forest Lawn Cemetery on Veterans Day. The historic cemetery is transformed into a sea of flags expressing the patriotism, while at the same time impressing us with the magnitude of its scope. We honor our Veterans and thank them for their sacrifices.
