The Christmas village display dates all the way back to the Renaissance. Each generation changed it over time, but it still comes from the same background. The earliest Christmas villages were Nativity scenes, like the one shown on the left.
Most Christmas villages have elaborate decorations; but this village has a family spin on it, mixing religious icons with secular objects. Most of the decorations are made of Christmas toys, getting the whole family involved. It includes many winter associated activities like skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and playing hockey.
For kids:
I Spy: Can you find Santa skiing? A kid playing basketball? Christmas carolers? A snowman? A snowboarder?
