Steve Miller (b. 1951)

In 1984, for many reasons, I started using the machines of technology to help make my images. Previously, I had rendered those images by hand, which can be seen in the painting "Panopticon" which I donated to [the Burchfield Penney Art Center] as well as "Push Pull" in the collection of the Albright-Knox (and reproduced in the catalogue of their permanent collection). This was the beginning of my using silk screen as a technique and I still use that technique today. 

The images in black are views of the NYC sky line with street maps underneath in white. The most important part of this work, for me, is that I had begun my journey of my explorations of technology and science and this in one of my earliest examples.
