My selection demonstrates a masterful assemblage of exotic woods, in light and dark tones, and strong vertical and horizontal elements. This vertical skirt is heavy, well-grounded, and emphasizes volume. To the contrary, traditional hoop skirts were light, horizontal, and “springy”. Hoop skirts in one form or another date back to 16th Century Spain. Speaking of Spain, please imagine Two Drawer Hoop Skirt among the “little people” in Spanish artist Diego Velazquez Las Meninas. Are you smiling?
