Text by Angelica M. Rodriguez: The events of September 11th, 2001 are now infamous in American history. Commonly referred to as 9/11, this day each year marks a somber anniversary when terrorists attacked the Twin Towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Virginia, and tried to assault the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. During this onslaught of attacks 2,977 people were killed, not including those 19 hijackers. Days, months, and years after this attack many Americans around the world showcased their pride and support for the country by displaying their flags in traditional and sometimes often creative manner.
The display on Baraga Street in South Buffalo, New York creatively displays the country's traditional colors of red, white, and blue in the American flag and other objects. Not only is this a display of patriotism a year after the attacks, but it also shows the country's resilience to move forward even after devastating circumstances.
