August Biehle, Jr. painted in transparent and opaque watercolor while attending Henry Keller’s summer school in Berlin Heights, Ohio. He incorporated Keller's Post-Impressionist theories into his work. Biehle was considered among the pioneers inCleveland's modern art scene, as well as Keller, Clara Deike, and William Sommer.
