To use his own words, Fred Scruton describes his work of the past several years as an interest in “‘vernacular’ architecture in the City of Buffalo and…part of an on-going documentary project about the conversion of (often marginal) urban structures into religious buildings.” The project has been partially funded by a grant from Pratt Institute. Buffalo is just one of the cities that Fred has featured among sites in “most states east of the Mississippi.” Several of the buildings have since been demolished. The work is being considered for a future exhibition on ecclesiastical architecture tentatively titled, “Temples of Worship.” (Fred Scruton, 2001)
