Gardenville Rail Yard
Among Burchfield’s favorite places for daily walks was the Gardenville rail yard. In October 1939, for example, he wrote: “As I left Union Rd, and started down the lane toward the railroad, I felt all at once, that no spot on earth could be as satisfying as this particular place, that this moment was the supreme one — complete contentment filled me. There is no other true happiness.”
