Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967)

Burchfield recorded that this print "grew out of 'November Evening' #1 (1920)." This is an alternate title for the oil tempera painting, Late Afternoon Twilight, which also is part of the Penney Collection. It shares the horse drawn cart, stooped driver, and dramatic sky.
