Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967)

In another design that bears resemblance to Japanese prints, Burchfield has created a scene that seems to vibrate with energy. As white and poppy-red flowers parachute through branches and leaves, wavy linear patterns dominate both foreground and background, graphically unifying the birds and milkweed.
