Rather dull, as I scarcely slept four hours last night – (As I lay awake from Midnight until 4:00, I “wrote” in my mind, much of my career at the wall-paper mill. If only there were some magical way to get such mental exercises on paper!) Nevertheless, Bertha and I in the studio went over the 30 X 40 & 26 X 40 pictures, trying to make a selection for the show; with good results.
At noon I called up John to discuss the show with him – he suggested Nov. 1 as a tentative date to open. He said several more had been sold or almost sold.
Raining by mid-afternoon. I suggested we run in town to a movie, to which Bertha readily agreed – to the Teck to see “Betrayed” (Clark Gable, Vic Mature, Lana Turner, Louis Calhern) & “The Yellow Tomahawk” both excellent entertainment. We had just barely got into our car when a violent storm broke loose, with lightning, and strong gusts of wind. It was very exciting driving thru the city at such a time – reflections of lights, and lightning in the wet asphalt. A real equinoctial storm.
