The sun could scarce break through a dense yellow mist that hung over the earth – Freight trains whistles echoed & reechoed and blurred up vivid pictures of great misty valleys –
A wonderful morning – bluebirds’ calls on all sides –
At even a violet haze obscured the sun, & as the robins commenced to sings; the song seemed to come from a far-off water-soaked pasture.
