 Jan. 31 (Mon.); “Warmer” in the night (about 26°)—a quiet fine snow—as we watched it, I wondered why with no wind the snow fell in a slanting direction. Its steady silent downward rhythm has a hypnotic character.; ;;;; Feb. 1 (Tues); In-studio—studying 1920 E. Liverpool Street scene, for which I had made a preliminary mount last year (37 x 54). [Its] solution seemed to come today it is good I did not get it mounted last year. ; P.M. Rev. & Mrs. Neeb in Rev. Neeb read to us a letter he had written to M.A. in regard to her applying for a Wheat Ridge Scholarship. Relates more details of church “affair.”—; ;;;; Feb. 2 (Wed.).; P.M.—Mrs. Mitchell brings out her son to look at “Song of the Cicada”—He was very enthusiastic over it, and she has decided to take it instead of the early (1916) one. ; Late P.M.
