A.M. to Buffalo- to see about getting the girls bows re-paired. To “Art Violin Show”- up by St. Louis Cathedral- over by a Weingarden. He was blithely playing his violin when I came in. After we had completed our discussion of the bows (the young man who does it for him, is now working at the airport and does not have much time for re-pairing) he was disposed to talk. He told me that at one time he was a great violin player himself- that in fact he was a first cousin of Felix Weingarden the great conductor (he did not know or would not admit that the conductor calls himself Weingarten) and that all the members of the Weingarden family were geniuses. I had difficulty getting away.
To market- bought a few plants for our perennial garden.
P.M. to Scene of Crumbling Earth- for studies. A strong cool wind- it’s pleasant here- sharp shivers of pain at times- It finally settles down to a steady down-pour & I came home.
My lumbago is still with me- or rheumatism or whatever it is- It keeps me below par, and assails me at unexpected moments, when I think I am better.
