The first real “maple-sap” day – a light freeze in the night – the sky a deep blue, a tang to the air. It is wonderfully thrilling – and chafe at my debility due to the cold.

Children getting ready for bed. Tommy, naked, ran out of the bathroom and up to his room & I wondered if he was already feeling a shyness at being un-clothed, but a moment later he called down that he wanted someone to come up and help him dress. So I went up – all he wanted was company so he was well able to get into his things. We had brought some picture cards for them & they were soon busy dividing them. Mart brought Davy down & I held him a while. He laughed and cooed and was lovable in every way. Peggy is less demonstrative now, but sweet.
At almost 10:00 Art called from home (we had given him up.) – So we went home and had coffee with him –
