Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967), Snow Storm in the Woods, 1917; watercolor on paper, 20 1/4 × 42 1/4 inches; Collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, Gift of Mrs. Clay Bartlett
A stormy blustery day—snowing.
Working in studio on a small 1920 reconstructed picture.
Evening M & H in—cards etc. B had baked a Valentine cake, but everyone preferred pie with ice-cream.
M. said she’d had a letter from Carl Gartner, saying that he had had word from N.Y. that Clay Bartlett had bought two of my pictures.
