The night was wonderful. Proof of its beauty may be seen in the fact that people who generally see no beauty in nature exclaimed about the night. It takes an unusual occurrence to arouse them.
Moon was in the full in an air so fresh that it seemed to snap. The snow was unusual. Great quantities of sparkleflakes had coated the surface with an infinitely uneven layer of glint-stars; as we moved along, these flakes caught & lost the moonlight in a dazzling maze of sparklings, so intense as to haze the eyes.
To a party ‘till three and a dance ‘till six, and coming home from the dance after six, I thought upon the amazing possibilities of an all night walk under such a moon. In the country where there would be nothing suggesting habitations, to stride along a frozen road with the snow-sparkles as an accompaniment!
