On December 18, 1934 Mary Harriman Rumsey died. According to The Junior League:100 Years of Volunteer Service, Mary fell from a horse on her birthday, a month before her death. It happened in Virginia during the first steeplechase of the season. She was brought to a hospital in Washington, D.C. to recouperate, but had an adverse reaction to a blood transfusion. She is buried in Arden, the Harriman family estate near New York.
When not time traveling, working out, or hanging out at the Burchfield Penney, Mary Beth Parrinello is the religion teacher in the Montessori program at Nardin Academy in Buffalo, N.Y. She also volunteers her time at Westminster Presbytarian Church, C.G. Jung Center, and Junior League of Buffalo, which was founded by Mary Harriman Rumsey, Charles Cary Rumsey's wife!
