I'm looking forward, with some sadness, to my last visit to Buffalo as BPAC artist-in-residence. I'll be there on December 13th, for the signing of my new book, Barcelona, which pays homage to Burchfield. I'll be working the rest of the time in the landscape with the goal of making at least one snow picture so that all of the seasons are represented in my series, Presence. See work to-date--15 images--and click "text" to read about the project on my website: http://janellelynch.net/#/PROJECTS/Presence%20(2013)/1/
I'll also be researching in the Archive Study Center for the writing component of my residency work. Areas of interest include Burchfield's Golden Year, his anthropomorphization of nature, and his close relationships with Dr. Braasch and Edward Wales Root. Nancy and Tullis will kindly be providing me with related material.
A highlight will be Jerry's chili.
More soon,
Janelle
