Class indoor – about 12 came – coffee with David & his aunt (Miss James) who is a naturalist. Dreams – occurring during the last week or so –
1. A country road – Art (who is about 11 years old) and I have been out in the wood & field. At an intersection a small white farm-house – on a bank by the road, hepaticas are in bloom – the beautiful rich deep blue-violet kind – I told art I had planted them there myself several years ago, and it seemed odd to me that I had done so. We turned off on a side road, which sloped upward abruptly; repairs had been going on and the road was moldy; it was so steep we had difficulty in climbing to the top and I though how impossible it would be to drive a car up it.
2. A country road, running north & south, with wooded hills to the west – daffodils were blooming in profusion along the road on both sides as I walked southwards I came to an ancient village. A long row of cold [weather-beaten] buildings, which I thought would make a wonderful project, and a pang came to me that I had last the taste for doing such themes.
