Met by Art at train – good to be home.[i]

Sally’s visit. Really got acquainted with the baby. An adorable little fellow. Pal[iii] good with him – the baby could pull his ears etc. + Pal would merely look patiently dignified.

[i] Burchfield was returning from three days in New York, where he had an exhibition at the Rehn Gallery. During this trip Frank Rehn told him that he has Leukemia.
[ii] Oddly, Burchfield had these two entries in the journals, both capturing October 16.
[iii] Pal was Charles Burchfield’s dog which he wrote about frequently.
