A cold wind blew in on me all night last night - fine.
A grey windy morning. A wonderful season. Amble thru Wade Park at 3:30. Sketching and reveling in the colors. Meet Boy Scout leader searching for Sassafras. I lead him to spot where I discovered some last week. We talk of tree study and he told me of their camping out experiences last summer at Gate Mills.
A heavy grey sky. The northeast wind scatters drops of water now & then.
A model, whom we had in modelling last year, met me at the Studio, and seeming delighted to see me shook hands. It means a lot to have them smile when they see you - I don’t know why unless they like a person more by instinct than reason. The present model Sam, when I asked him what he did evenings said he often took a walk or played cards, and was anxious that I should understand that he did not play for money, only for fun.
