When reading Charles Cary Rumsey's obituary, I had forgotten how many details the newspapers use to publish, before privacy was taken more seriously. Not only were his siblings' names listed, their addresses were as well. Of course I had to see where the houses are!
Evelyn was married to Rev. Walter Lord (who conducted the service) and they lived at 499 Ashland Avenue and it is still standing. Evelyn's paintings are around in Buffalo still to this day.
Gertrude was married to Carlton Smith and they lived at 304 North Street. It is now a parking lot. There was a picture of the house in a back issue of Western New York Heritage.
Grace was married to Charles Goodyear and they lived with in the Goodyear Family compound at 123 Oakland Place, also still standing.
When not time traveling, working out, or hanging out at the Burchfield Penney, Mary Beth Parrinello is the religion teacher in the Montessori program at Nardin Academy in Buffalo, N.Y. She also volunteers her time at Westminster Presbytarian Church, C.G. Jung Center, and Junior League of Buffalo, which was founded by Mary Harriman Rumsey, Charles Cary Rumsey's wife!
