From Bahkti Sharma and Buffalo Architecture Foundation
Dear Buffaloves,
Hope you have enjoyed our Summer of Love, walked a garden story, and indulged in some Canalside fun with us. Now, it is time to celebrate our award winning Architecture and Education program and tell the story in 6 minutes. That’s right… you guessed it. Our strategic planning session earlier this year revealed that our Buffalo community wants us to marry our programs. What if the 6Mbs program was focused on our programs? And marry we did.
For this Fall, we would like to tailor the 6Mbs event to a youth-based audience in order to coincide with BAF’s award-winning biennial Architecture + Education program, which will be held at 9 Buffalo Public Schools this year. There is a tremendous opportunity to “play” with the format and incorporate theatrical performance elements that explore visual, aural and physical narratives to tell unique Building Stories.
We are partnering with the Burchfield Penney Art Center for the event and for an installation in the Front Yard.
And this is where, you come in!
For our installation, we need a #HaikuForBuffalo
AKA
A 140-character narrative of your relationship with Buffalo
Haiku noun hai·ku ˈhī-(ˌ)kü
An unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing usually five, seven, and five syllables respectively
Make these poems yours. Make them about your connection with the building. Make them about your connection with Buffalo.
And most importantly… make the hashtag go viral. Make the haiku poems go viral. The more favorites, retweets, likes, shares… the more your chance of being featured at the frontyard. These haiku poems are for use in the Frontyard installation at the BPAC in Fall 2015.
No twitter? No problem? Submit here or reply to this blog post in comment section. But, whatever you do… Get Haikuing!
Yours Buffalovely,
Bhakti
