Sept 8 - (Tues) - The "heavens open" and torrents of rain. During a lull in the P.M. B + I go to corner to take bus to Buffalo. After we had waited a half hour, and rain beginning we decided to return home. Evening, the girls to the (CD) concert, amid torrents of rain. We three remaining spent a restless evening - try to interest ourselves in cards but bored. B + A - eventually play chinese checkers and parlor golf, while I alternately read in "Anna Karenina" and listen to the radio. At last I gave it al up, and played Dvorak 2nd Symphony. It was even more powerful and beautiful than I remembered.
