Sept. 4 – Friday
Goodman called – opening a new gallery at Buffalo and wanted to borrow a painting for their opening. I referred him to J.C. [John Clancy of the Rehn Gallery, Burchfield’s New York gallery] – then I immediately called John to explain my position.
John said Rossy had gotten married this summer. She called J up before the event to tell him and then said to him, “Why don’t you and Winnie get married?” Which seemed to J a huge joke. So I said to him, “Well now since you’ve brought up the subject, why don’t you and Winnie get married?” but he only laughed.
He and Fleischman[i] has again brought up the subject of buying “Cherry-Blossom Snow” – I told him to make as good terms as he could and go ahead.
Evening B+I to Breans – the pure brilliant golden color surrounding the setting sun.
