At sunset the whole sky was a brilliant salmon, which case a warm glow over the earth, and brought us running outdoors. The clouds overhead & far to the east were touched highly on one side, yet the mass of color was in the northwest. What wonderful pebbled beaches—violet sand with salmon pebbles—in a lake of cold icy green & blue! That blue is a most wonderful color. The wind, indeed, cool as it is, seemed tinged with ice, coming through that sky.
