Morse from N.Y. to make a tape-recording of an interview with me for the Archives of American Art. After a short visit in house we went to the studio for the interview so we would be away from any disturbances. I felt perfectly at ease, to my surprise, even though I knew what I said was being recorded “for posterity” Afterwards, we went in the house & all had high-balls, then the three of us went out to the studio & listened to some of the interview. I was amazed to find my voice that of a complete stranger (I had read somewhere that no one knows how his voice sounds to others) – but Bertha said it sounded wonderfully natural. (This was disturbing to me, but I can’t say just why).
As it was after 1:00, we invited him to have lunch with us at Chestnut Lodge – A good meal and pleasant talk.
Morse left at midafternoon for the airport.
Then B & I to Buffalo to Dr. Arbesman’s (he was not going to be in his office tomorrow).
