By express “March Pools”, which John at my request had brought from a woman in Detroit – This was the last of nine sketches I had made on a memorable weekend in 1917 (24-25) – I had always regretted selling it to a collector several years [ago] – Sold for $900 it cost me $2500 to get it back – Had I been told in 1917 that such a financial transaction would be made later I would never have believed it. Foolish sentimentalism? Perhaps, but I am happy to have the 9 sketches intact again.
