Out painting. A lot of driving around before I could get in the mood. Finally settled on a spot on Route 39 –A row of roadside maples, with open field to the south. A pleasant lunch, leaning up against one of the trees.
Painting all afternoon – a sky with cumulus clouds, sunlit middle ground, and field motives in front in shadow, with a dark overhanging maple branch above. The power of June mounting up into summer.
(M.A. visiting Sally for a week).
Hilgandorf’s came in afternoon.
