State of nature one of intense complaceny & satisfaction. As go out road the sunshine is not too bright. The air very clear very little haze. All things are green and full to the brim.
See first wild rose in bloom
Arrive at “Camp” The bird chorus is in full swing. Thrasher red-winged blackbird, house-wren, meadowlark songeparrow. Swallow silver flight. Hear sparrow-hawks call and also “Tseerie”
Pondlilies in bloom.
Day merges into night in a calm harmonious manner. Does not get dark until nine o’clock. By that time noon is up. Fireflies abound and are beautiful as they flash in the moonlight. Whippoorwills and tree-frogs. The ponds are flush with water and prevent successful frog-hunting. See a tree-frog executing his song. Cap¬ture one. His body gummy.
The fogs were beautiful in the moonlight. One bank, lying low over a meadow, seemed illuminated from within with moonlight.
