Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967), "The Sweet pea in the foreground backed by the vine on the post," from the folder “521, Tentative Plans for Enlarging Some 1917 Sketches”, circa 1954-55; conté crayon on paper; Burchfield Penney Art Center, Charles E. Burchfield Foundation Archives, Gift of the Charles E. Burchfield Foundation, 2006
Mounted the large India ink brush tracing of “May, 9, 1917” – (I have practically solved the difficulty of mounting such large tracings, by first immersing them completely in water, then laying it on a previously arranged newspaper mat, on a large cardboard, then lifting it to the table, and smoothing it out with a large “dry” sponge).
