Cool and damp –
Just at sunset time, the sun broke through the clouds, lighting up the tops of trees with the most vivid red – gold—the effects were “other-worldly”—tree trunks were the most vivid red; yellow green foliage became the purest gold with the faintest hint of green – we were watching “Leave it to Beaver” on TV at the time and it was impossible to give it much attention! –
