Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967), Robin Song at Dusk, 1918; watercolor and graphite on paper, 20 x 14 inches; Charles E. Burchfield Foundation Archives, Gift of the Charles E. Burchfield Foundation, 2006
Raining—very warm.
In studio—studying the picture of yesterday and marveling at the nerve I had to use so much yellow all thru the picture. It is like the blinding glory of the golden gates of Paradise.
Also studying the cartoon for the “Robin Song at Dusk.” I had to make radical changes in the foreground.
Afternoon sky clears—warm and sunny—
Evening Hank & Mart down to play cards.
