I was out one day for a short stroll in the backyard- & a peek into the studio. Almost as if for me especially, a songsparrow sang several times, a thrill. Robins sing mainly at morning- It is wonderful to see them again.
One day I made drawings and notes on a summer picture (one of a group Bertha had brought in for the Neebs to choose one from- (they settled on the 1948-57 Queen-Anne’s Lace at Twilight) with great gusto and inventiveness.
The weather has been to cold and damp to go out. I am “chomping at the bit”
For my birthday Bertha gave me a sweet-card, and we called some records I had ordered, her gift. Most outstanding of these is a new recording of the Dvorak cello concerto, played by the young cellist Janigro – It is a miracle of playing, interpretation & reproduction-

Two good letters & an Easter greeting from the Dr. Braasches.
Called up John once since I was home- two more pictures sold the 1956 “Spirit of the North Woods (40x30) and “The Promise of Spring” (40x27) both done in the big woods- to a Dr. Tornelli (?) of Youngstown, Ohio.
