Lowering skies — sometimes wet snow –
Each day I stop to contemplate the downy bowed heads of the hepaticas, half-hidden under the leaves – there they wait humbly for their cue to lift their heads and open wide to the sky— the one being the first warm ray of the sun.
A.M.— Working some on the “New Albany in March – (I think I shall call lit simply Village in March)— but in anticipation of Bill West’s visit in the afternoon—unable to do very much but get ready for a full go at it tomorrow –
Bill out at 1:30— His work shows a distinct advance over last year – His humility towards his own work is very genuine and touching.
Visit in the studio — he admired most the “Autumnal Fantasy” and “Gateway to September—
Bill is one of the finest people we know — a true gentleman –
