March 13 – Mon –
Damp, chilly weather - , raw east wind – wet snow + rain.
A song sparrow by the studio singing –
Got to work on the wild bleeding-heart picture (in memory of a large colony of these delicately beautiful plants which was situated on the east end slope of the Big Wood and which was completely wiped out when a summer cottage was built there a few years ago) – a complicated subject, which “taxed my ingenuity to the utmost.” Did not finish it – Bertha thought it was beautiful even in its unfinished state.
