This book is a wonderful gift of words. The Burchfield Penney Art Center's Archive has great tapes we made when Lax did a reading for us, a fine reading remembered in our recently published book, edited by David Lampe, lifting up the past 35 years of extraordinary readings at The Center. We also worked with the University of Buffalo Rare Book room and did an exciting exhibition, featuring very visual work by Lax, including a piece The Center commissioned, a poem created as a banner of colors, rhymed across a large square format. The exhibition, organized by Nancy Weekly with a little help from me, also included an orientation to Concrete (or Visual) Poetry, as seen from the many fine works held in the UB collection. I hope you enjoy this review. We will have copies of our anthology of readings at The Center available in our gift shop, and we will order copies of the Lax Anthology from Wave Press if anyone would like. Just let us know!
