A bright day of alternate sun and clouds. It is “warmer” (in the 30’s) and the air is delightful.
P.M. A &I to dam for pussy-willows (they have not even started) – We were in a hilarious mood – the slightest mishap a remark sent us into gales of laughter. The dam was cluttered with slabs of ice, deposited there by a recent thaw, and we had some difficulty in even crossing.
Then we took a walk down North St. to the Railroad, but the place was so cluttered and foul-smelling, that we left and came home.
Evening- started reading “Forever Free” – a story of the Lincoln years 1861-63. It reads easily.
Aside from the symphony programs, which scarcely count (for there the radio is but the vehicle of something good in itself_ the best radio program is the Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson and Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. These excellent actors create the illusion of time, place and action, by their voices alone.
