In reading about the Rumsey property behind 330 Delaware, I have found at least 2 books with recollections: Mabel Dodge Luhan's Intimate Memories, and inBuffalo's Delaware Avenue, exerpts from Goodyear Family History by George Goodyear.
Mr. Goodyear remembered Rumsey Park's pond in the winter for ice skating and hockey (came in handy at Nichols and Harvard in later years) and in the summer for rowing. They played football on the lawn (guess the Kennedy's did not invent that!) and something called "one-old-cat".
The friends included Howard and Jimmy Laverack; cousin Hal Movius;as well as Charley and Conger Goodyear (in later years a Long Island neighbor). Other friends were Mabel Dodge Luhan, and Gerry and Stephen Spaulding.
When not time traveling, working out, or hanging out at the Burchfield Penney, Mary Beth Parrinello is the religion teacher in the Montessori program at Nardin Academy in Buffalo, N.Y. She also volunteers her time at Westminster Presbytarian Church, C.G. Jung Center, and Junior League of Buffalo, which was founded by Mary Harriman Rumsey, Charles Cary Rumsey's wife!
