Early in the morning a fluffy snow was falling later after a series of blue holes in the sky, the sun burst forth and spattered white foam over the sky –

Endless sweep of cold overlapping clouds all day – at evening the sky splits and the sun burst thru in orange light – the robins ring.  Late at night it was snowing.

The Easter egg hunt – A colorful beautiful sight – 100s of youngsters in vivid colored clothes – Seen though the screen of sumacs...their constant going back & forth made them seem like birds or butterflies

I established firmly the great black North motif in the sky, with wind clouds, the largest of which is spewing forth snow-flurries –

Working on ‘Good Friday Mood’ with great gusto and assurance. A bitter mood. (I think I shall give it a non-committal title such as ‘April Mood’ –).

Going down into a deep valley I came to what I last year named the “Twin Hollows.” Two deep hollows from the east came together at this point and formed one.

This morning I went out to get some fresh air - fresh air, delicious air; never was the air so pure and clear as it was all day to-day . . . most wonderful of all was the wind - 

But still, I know that the end of 1959 is going to be remembered by us, as a period of a miraculous phenomenon, of over-powering beauty.

At one of the hollows I saw some crows alight for the first time anywhere near me.

How it all became suddenly vivid—the raw gray days in March, the calls of blue-birds, the dripping water from ice covered banks.
