Sunset time is romantic and reminds me of last years first trip to Brandywine.

At Sunset the sky was clear, but as the cold moon came forth cold white clouds swept across the black sky. The air was a sparkle.

My awakening out-door look showed a startle of white roofs. All morning a soggy snow fell melting on the warm earth.

Heavy snowstorm  from the N.E. beginning just before dawn. B & I to Sally’s to help them move. Red and I take on and load before lunch. Nervewracking driving.

A.M. raining – but by mid-afternoon it cleared off – the ground is still hard immediately under the grass. One felt a robin should call...

Mart was chagrinned because she had suddenly discovered she would have to pay $200 tax on the hi-fi set she won as a prize

I think I see nature with more complicated eye than earlier. Where once a fleet of clouds blown by a wind across the ragged sky was enough for me, now I look at it, troubled how best to put it down “on canvas.” 

Those days had their frustration and agony—but all that remains is the joy I felt in nature, as revealed in these watercolors—Halcyon days, without a single worry!

B & I to the Century to see "Bambi" again. Somewhat of a disappointment – altho the thunderstorm in the woods, the transition of autumn to winter, and the forest fire were still enchanting.
