I was very much interested in your comments on the “Fourth Burchfield” — Only gradually have I come to realize it myself – La Verne George, (Art Digest) when she saw “The Wood-pecker” (which she was crazy about) remarked upon a “totally new phase” for which she could find no title – 

Listened to the “telegraph harp” today on my morning walk –

It had rained all night & all day—I went out over the loose spongy earth—the rain increased in fury—a flock of blackbirds in a meadow were chattering with a melodious cheerfulness—

By train to Rochester at 7:10 A.M. – the sight of trains moving back & forth, sending forth great fluffs of steam, made one think “what a wonderful world it is, after all”

I had the thought while watching it, that Walt Disney with his whimsical art will do more for the general peace & happiness of the world than all the propaganda and peace talk in the world; for to me it is inconceivable that a nation looking at such things could foster hate

The storm has “blown itself out”, but there is still a brisk wind from the [south west]. It is milder and there is a strong feeling of spring

After church to “Brunch” at the State U College given by Dr. Bulger in honor of Wesley Bruck, who had just completed a divider for the dining room at Moot Hall.

Spring fever has a terrible hold on me today.  I do not know what to do; I want to do everything and yet can’t settle on any one thing.  One powerful urge lies under all this feeling however and that is the desire to be out in the woods and marshlands.
