A piece in the paper quoting one of Sibelius’ daughters — She said he left behind no unpublished music, which spiked all rumors about an eight[h] symphony. How could such a rich powerful stream of creation (the greatest in the 20thcentury) suddenly dry up? – A tragedy —

A rare phenomenon later. It is quite dark. Up out of the southwest roars the huge wind. 

It is my habit to hear the making of acquaintance with new people, and probably if no one else ever made first overtures I would never meet anyone.

Thoroughly delightful – I could not get over my good fortune, to be alive, eating chicken sandwiches, on such a day, and in my favorite summer haunt!

About noon, I got dressed + we went to Southgate Plaza – to Bank + to P.O. + then to “Your Host” for lunch. 

      Wind was directly from the south. So seldom does this occur that today would have been memorable with nothing else....Joe and I visit Kirst’s to ascertain if they had decided to take the rooms with Slacks. They have not decided.      Following this we went to the Opera-House.

All day on Gateway to September putting in the huge "Insect Tree" in the August part. For the first time in weeks I let myself go in improvisation and fantasy.

Visit from the Braasches – Their enthusiasm and understanding so great, that they always leave me feeling that visual art is the most important thing in the world.
