All day long the fog remained, making weird and beautiful effects of the trees, and at evening of the lights.

Another “miraculous” day – clear and sunny with only occasionally “high clouds” – up to 63°.

Got to work early on the “Wild Geese at Evening” and worked with gusto all day on it — practically solving the sky, and making the locust tree group more elemental and grim. – (I will have to think of a new title for it, as it has become clear that the wild geese cannot be put in without disturbing the sky – which is more important.)

Pale far away grey morning – Earth & Sky one – The sky is blueish grey at bottom but lighter warmer grey above...

 A dream— of finding hepaticas blooming around an old chestnut stump — a huge plant, thick with delicate pink flowers, growing in the center of the stump in the rich burnt sienna decayed mud.

Looking out of a west window I saw a piece of rainbow low in the north sky; it was like a vision for there was no rain...

A.M.—B & I to city-line to get chicken for our Thanksgiving dinner. And in afternoon to Buff. to get vegetables etc. A bouquet of huge pink daisy-like chrysanthemums...
