As it was for Charles E. Burchfield, watercolor is the primary medium through which Rita Argen Auerbach expresses her artistic vision. Rita's compositions dance with energy, celebrating deep connections with the world around her. 

With profound appreciation to our colleague and friend Rita for her tireless commitment to our mission, we are grateful to the entire Auerbach family for sharing these vibrant and inspired works with the Burchfield Penney Art Center and Western New York community.

Legacy is a career-spanning celebration of Auerbach’s artistic vision featuring watercolors selected by the artist’s children, along with works from private collections and the permanent collection of the Burchfield Penney Art Center. In Legacy, these connections bridge the creative and the familial in paintings selected by Rita’s children—Brad, Glenn, and Carrie— revealing personal perspectives on their mother’s work.
