This inaugural exhibition – a biennial, juried exhibition of fine art in craft media – presented selected works by established and emerging regional talent, as well as providing purchase awards that enable the Burchfield Penney to build the craft art collection. In 1998, the juror was Paul J. Smith, director emeritus of the American Craft Museum in New York. He selected Cassondra Argeros, Sara Baker-Michalak, Cosmo A.
